Good Looking Sounds Tailored Compositions
About

An authentic
audiovisual counterpoint.

Good Looking Sounds was born from the ongoing collaboration between Carmine Calia and Dante Fontana. The duo works through a structured method focused on the construction of an authentic audiovisual counterpoint, in which music engages in dialogue with the image according to formal and narrative principles defined by the director.

Method — 01

Composition

Within the creative process, Carmine — an experienced composer and multi-instrumentalist — develops the musical framework using authentic analog instruments, selected for their specific timbral qualities.

Method — 02

Coloration

In parallel, Dante intervenes during the act of composition itself, providing guidance, cross-pollinations, and subtle "colorations" that steer the stylistic direction — contributing in a distinctly tailored manner to the overall sonic character.

This operational relationship allows the duo to engage in a direct dialogue with the director, offering musical solutions that are fully coherent with the visual framework and the structural pacing of the filmic sequences. Recordings are carried out on magnetic tape, in accordance with a technical tradition that prioritizes dynamic coherence and timbral continuity — a clear and controlled sonic fabric, conceived to support the construction of the cinematic image and to reinforce its expressive elements with restraint, rigor, and full narrative functionality.

Dante Fontana Dante Fontana
DJ, Researcher & Selector

Dante Fontana

Dante Fontana is a DJ, researcher, and selector closely associated with the "60s scene," widely recognized for his rigorous investigation into rare recordings, film soundtracks, and the darker, cross-disciplinary music of the second half of the twentieth century.

His selections interweave soul, beat, cosmic jazz from the Iron Curtain, library music, and cinematic sonorities, with an almost obsessive attention to historical and sonic detail. Within the Good Looking Sounds project, he plays a decisive role in shaping the duo's musical identity, guiding references, atmospheres, and stylistic choices within an authentic, tailored audiovisual counterpoint perspective.
